Designs

Hey guys! Let's all post the character designs and traits we've come up with - Even the ones we're not super happy with, it's all part of the process :D

Here are my foxes - One short and feisty, one tall and graceful. You know the deal. I'm not sure if we disscussed this, but are the foxes going to be mostly bipeds, or quadrupeds? When main fox is going through her 'pants salesman' gag she's more than likely going to be bipedal, but what about the rest of the time?
I figured that we could have the foxes, or at least the main foxes, be bipedal, and have the manx be a quadruped. It's another contrast bewteen them, but it also (to me anyway) shows the manxs' relaxed nature a bit more - It's more effort to stand on two legs, so the foxes are just a bit more uptight doing so.

Speaking of the manx -

Ta-da! I liked Emily's ideas of the rounded fat body with the pigeoned toes, as well as the round eyebrows. Now, when I think of cats, I think of curious, playful, mischevious things. Even the fattest, laziest cat will still go crazy over some string. I'm afraid of letting him become too relaxed, if that's even the right word. He can still be a fat old(?) cat, but there would still be some playfulness.

I haven't attempted the hound yet ~

Another post is going to be the totality of the story we've come up with :D

Animation blogs, podcasts, and more

During our meeting today, we discussed several animations/artists/illustrations that inspire us and shared them with the group. In case you didn't get any of the links or names we mentioned, here's a list of the ones you guys posted on Facebook, and a couple more things I found useful as well.

I recommend that if you guys are really interested in following these blogs, you subscribe using a simple RSS reader, such as Google Reader or Aggregator. It's kinda like having everything in just one place, really useful stuff.

Enjoy final project week, stay strong!

Blogs
Ka-Blam Digital Printing

IndiesArt - "Daily illustrations and graphic stuff for alternative art lovers"
ImagineFX
The Character Design Blog - I can't recommend this enough. Great interviews with great industry and independent people. It's mostly about their creative process, but hey, there's always a thing to learn.

Webcomics
Nedroid - Anthony Clark's picture diary. He draws/writes a really cute webcomic (my personal fav), and does the colours for The Adventures of Dr McNinja
Shakes & Fidget - I haven't even read it but OH GOSH GUYS, the drawings are SO COOL :D

Podcasts
The Aniamtion Podcast - That's exactly what it is! Really cool interviews, great to listen to while working.
Spline Doctors - Andrew Gordon, an animator at Pixar and animation professor, created this podcast to teach us animation students more about the many wonders of animation. It's rarely updated, but I think that's because they just have too much work at Pixar :/
The Backroom Podcast - Comic books! Oh yeah!

More
Spying for Lying - The author of this blog examines nonverbal communication and behavioral psychology, an amazing resource when animating.
